THE DIVISION:
The Visalia Convention Center is situated in the heart of Central California at the midway point between Los Angeles and San Francisco/Sacramento and has distinguished itself as one of the premier meeting destinations in the Central Valley. The Visalia Convention Center was designed and built to accommodate nearly any event requirements. The Center has 114,000 square feet of meeting space and can hold up to six-thousand people. The Center is located in Downtown Visalia and sits within walking distance of over 50 locally owned restaurants.

THE POSITION:
The Facility Services Technician works closely with clients to ensure client satisfaction. This position provides direct supervision, and assists in the coordination, set up, and the work tasks of convention center audio/visual technicians and service workers to ensure completion of equipment set up and services in a timely and professional manner. The Facility Services Technician is knowledgeable in setting, operating, and troubleshooting in-house technical equipment such as: lighting boards, sound equipment, and audio and visual equipment, etc. This position works varied hours, including weekends, based on scheduled events.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
The ideal candidate will be customer service oriented and highly knowledgeable in the set-up and use of audio/visual equipment.  Strong communication skills are essential for this position as they are expected to directly supervise and give set-up instructions to staff, and develop strong working relationships with clients and staff alike. The ability to multi-task, navigate processes and procedures, provide coaching and feedback to staff, plan ahead and remain organized are key to ensure the successful execution of events while working in a fast-paced environment.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge, skill and ability is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skill and abilities would be: 

• Three (3) years of experience in operations in the hospitality/venue management industry including set up and operation of audio visual and technical equipment and systems for events.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Possession of a valid California Driver’s License by the time of appointment.
• Willingness to work an irregular schedule including nights and weekends.

PHYSICAL STANDARDS
Positions in this class are required to perform moderate physical work including walking, standing for long periods of time, bending, stooping, climbing, and lifting and carrying equipment weighing between 25 to 75 pounds. Positions may also require attendance at outdoor events resulting in exposure to the weather.
